#bostonwaterfront, Downtown Waterfront Planning Initiative

Over 250 residents, business owners, and community stakeholders attended the launch of #boswaterfront, the two-year Downtown Waterfront Planning Initiative, held at the New England Aquarium's IMAX Auditorium, along the Harborwalk, and the Boston Harbor Hotel. Building upon the completion of the Central Artery Tunnel Project, theRose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway, the Boston Harbor Cleanup project, the water transportation infrastructure improvements, the New England Aquarium expansion, and the HARBORWALK, the initiative seeks to enhance the public realm by developing a waterfront activation plan for one of the most active and accessible waterfronts in the northeast. As part of the initiative's launch, planners Rich McGuinness, Chris Busch, and Lauren Shurtleff, toured over 50 Bostonians along the Harborwalk to explore first-hand ways to enhance the public realm and a design charette was held at the Boston Harbor Hotel to begin gathering community's input. SHARE YOUR IDEA FOR: * a seamless link between the Greenway and the waterfront * maximizing the synergy in the public spaces and activating available space, * making access to the waterfront easier * capitalizing on the waterfront's existing assets to create an all-season destination * new public amenities to the waterfront * by tweeting your ideas for the waterfront and tagging #boswaterfront
