BOMA Boston update: Virtual college career panel & TOBY Awards

Boston, MA On Tuesday, October 21st BOMA Boston held a timely CRE Market Update where John Affleck, vice president of market analytics, with Co-Star provided an overview of what is happening in the office space locally and regionally. Shawn Carroll, vice president, CBRE, BOMA Boston’s 2020 president then facilitated a discussion with industry leaders who shared what is happening in their different sectors and their views on the Boston CRE market currently and forecasting what is to come during these unexpected times

On Thursday, November 19th BOMA Boston is holding its first annual Virtual College Career Panel hosted by the BOMA Emerging Professionals Committee!  The program will include an overview of the many different career paths in commercial real estate and a panel discussion with young industry professionals to dive deeper into five different sectors of the industry: property management, facilities/operations management, business development/ sales, broker, and development. This event is geared towards college students who are interested in commercial real estate and/or want to learn more about potential career paths! BOMA Boston is pleased to present the Larry Lenrow CRE Education Scholarship to support entry-level commercial real estate professionals looking to enhance their commercial real estate careers. Larry passed away in June 2020, and he will be forever missed by the BOMA Boston community. This scholarship serves to honor his legacy as a dedicated real estate executive. Five scholarships are awarded annually and this year’s recipients will be announced at the TOBY & Industry Awards on November 17th.

The commercial real estate industry has a professional certification that provides early recognition for foundational knowledge and guides the next generation of property managers toward greater responsibility and success in their careers: The Certified Manager of Commercial Properties (CMCP).
