BARNES Buildings & management group, inc. was brought on board during the design phase to assist Pando Associates the architect for the project, and By Design Construction, Inc. the general contractor.

BARNES delivered and installed the entire steel package for Canton Ice House LLC which included the fabrication and installation of the following features:

Approximately 80,000 s/f encapsulates two large clearspans covering the double ice arena, including mezzanine areas for viewing and services Standing Seam metal roofing with an R-30 Arena-shield insulation system and Metlspan foam insulated wall panels offer airtight conditioning of the arenas and building envelope steel fabrication of the entire grandstand structure, stairways, railings and the entire miscellaneous iron package.

The BARNES Buildings group confidently took on the multi-faceted project despite the short timeline for completion. “We thank the owners of Canton Ice House for putting their trust in our company. This was a challenging, detail-oriented project with a very tight schedule. Our team worked together with the By Design management team to achieve success,” said Marty Barnes, president.

Throughout the year, the Ice House will offer public skating, learn to skate and learn to play hockey programs. Each week, local youth, high school, women’s and men’s leagues will play over 35 games and hold more than 100 practices.

Overall, the Ice House is projected to host over 500,000 visitors annually.

The Ice House will be home to several local area high school hockey teams, an elite private club program, several local youth programs and a premier figure skating club. The Ice House will also host several large regional hockey tournaments each year, as well as figure skating competitions.
