Barkan Compliance Solutions secures contract with Newport Housing Authority

Newport, RI Barkan Compliance Solutions (BCS), an affiliate of Barkan Management Company and a leading provider of regulatory compliance services to developers, owners, and managers of affordable housing, has been engaged to provide recertification and compliance services for approximately 200 LIHTC, HOME, and Project Based Section 8 Public Housing units owned and managed by the Newport Housing Authority. BCS will also work with the Authority’s staff to help process and qualify applicants for housing including a lease up of a project being substantially renovated.

The mission of the Newport Housing Authority is “to provide decent, safe, sanitary, affordable housing and to promote home ownership, economic development, and economic self-sufficiency for public housing residents and a living environment free from discrimination and crime.” The Housing Authority of the city of Newport currently serves 2500+ people.

“We are pleased to be working with the Newport Housing Authority in its mission to provide public housing for those who qualify and to assist individuals and families with the application process,” said Cynthia Howe, vice president of Barkan Management Company. “We have the industry knowledge and commitment to the affordable housing sector that will help facilitate the administrative processes for this organization.
