Appraisal Foundation seeks candidates

The Appraisal Foundation began its annual search for qualified candidates to serve on the Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB) and the Appraisal Standards Board (ASB). The Board of Trustees may appoint up to four members to the AQB and up to three members to the ASB. The application deadline is August 3. Background and Qualifications The Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB) is responsible for setting minimum qualification criteria for state licensure and certification of real estate appraisers and has established voluntary qualification criteria for personal property appraisers. Familiarity with appraiser qualifications is a prerequisite of service on the AQB, and a minimum of 10 years of appraisal experience is required. The AQB has up to three face-to-face meetings per year. These meetings typically consist of 1½-days of work sessions and a ½-day public meeting. In months when the AQB does not meet face-to-face, they conduct WebEx or telephonic meetings. Individuals serving on the Board are compensated for their time and reimbursed for travel expenses. Those selected for AQB positions will serve initial terms of one to three years, commencing January 1, 2016. The Appraisal Standards Board (ASB) is charged with developing, interpreting and amending the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). Familiarity with USPAP is a prerequisite of service on the ASB, and a minimum of 10 years of appraisal experience is required. The ASB has up to four face-to-face meetings per year. Meetings of the ASB typically consist of 1½-days of work sessions and a ½-day public meeting. In months when the ASB does not meet face-to-face, they conduct WebEx or telephonic meetings. Individuals serving on the Board are compensated for their time and are reimbursed for travel expenses. Those individuals selected for a position on the ASB will serve initial terms of one to three years commencing January 1, 2016.
