Acella Const. completes $2.9m Milton-Hoosic Club renovation

Canton, MA Acella Construction Corp., a leader in construction management throughout greater Boston, has completed a 11,718 s/f renovation and expansion project at the historic Milton-Hoosic Club.

The well-established family country club, with a rich history dating back to 1891, is one of the oldest golf clubs in the country. Over the years, the popular country club outgrew the existing and dated clubhouse, prompting its expansion and complete renovation.

The roughly $2.9 million project required complete gutting and renovation of the existing 5,761 s/f clubhouse and a 5,957 s/f addition for a total of more than 11,700 s/f.

New construction included a dining area that can be split into two separate portions via a folding partition, a bar with a seated lounge area and a modified kitchen to allow for increased functions. The project also included expansion of both the women’s and men’s locker rooms, a new Pro Shop, handicap access through a new chair lift and a 1,400 s/f deck with a gas-fired fireplace. The new deck contains a drainage system to allow its use during inclement weather conditions.

The Acella team and construction partners met the challenge of completing the project within specific time frames and on budget despite the impact of the novel coronavirus pandemic, which required the implementation of new safety protocols and caused some delays.

“It is with great satisfaction that we announce the completion of the Milton-Hoosic Club’s renovation and expansion, one of many country club construction projects we have worked on over the years,” said Ryan LaVangie, vice president of sales and marketing for Acella Construction.  “All involved in the project can take pride in the outcome – a functional and aesthetically pleasing club house that will provide high quality services and amenities for its existing and future membership.”

Recently passed legislation creates opportunities to meet CT’s changing energy needs - by Klein and Feinn

For decades, New England has had a summer-peaking power system, where the greatest energy use occurs on the hottest and most humid days, due to widespread use of air conditioning. But by the mid-2030s, electrification of the heating sector likely will result in a winter peak that’s higher than the summer peak.
