Abbott Real Estate to build 36 homes at The Bay Club

Abbott Real Estate Development LLC has purchased 36 homesites to build single family residences at The Bay Club, an exclusive, gated golf community incorporating 625 acres. Abbott will be breaking ground this fall and plans for occupancy during spring 2008. "Golf, tennis, open space, elegantly-designed homes - the Bay Club in Mattapoisett has it all," said Gerard Savard, principal of Abbott Real Estate Development. "These homes will offer a casual, but sophisticated and maintenance-free lifestyle complete with all the amenities expected in a country club setting." The homes are expected to start at around $750,000. Buyers can choose from among five floor plans featuring generous layouts ranging from 2,000 to 3,000 s/f. Social membership in the Bay Club, now available for the first time, will be included with the purchase of a home. Features of the social membership include a vast sports complex with tennis, paddle tennis, swimming, and extensive work-out facilities, a gourmet demonstration kitchen and restaurant. The Bay Club is located on scenic countryside nearby Buzzard's Bay. Of the property's 625 total acres, the golf course and club facilities occupy 155 acres and 270 acres are available for residential properties. Another 200 acres are permanently committed to open space. The Bay Club is an Audubon International Silver Signature Sanctuary, one of only 66 golf courses worldwide and the only one in Massachusetts to earn Audubon International's elite Silver designation. The plan for 36 homes makes Abbott a significant developer at the Bay Club. The purchase was completed on July 30 and construction is expected to be underway this month. Abbott Homes opened an on site sales office in early August. Abbott Real Estate Development, LLC is a developer of single and multifamily housing with a specialty in locating residential communities in desirable New England locations. Abbott has completed more than 1,000 residential homes with more than 500 under development. Abbott's principals, James McAuliffe and Gerard Savard, have broad expertise in commercial and residential real estate development and real estate portfolio management, as well as extensive experience with institutional investors and lenders.
