A lot going on in the commercial real estate world

The NHCIBOR community has been very busy and most everyone appears to be having a great time as summer begins. I am hearing from most everyone that they had a great first quarter of this year and continue to have a lot of activity. I have asked Heather Rowan our affiliate chairperson this year from Office Resources Inc. to give us an update on our affiliates committee activity: "Summer is here and the affiliate committee is as busy as ever! We are excited to announce that we have joined forces with the CIBOR social committee! This merger of groups only makes us a stronger entity to provide our members with stronger and more valuable events throughout the year. Our afterhour's series has proven to be a great success! The last event was hosted by RJ Finlay at their beautiful Liberty Lane campus in Hampton which attracted a strong turnout. We will be taking the months of July and August off, with our next after hours being hosted by TF Moran at their Bedford Office. October will be hosted by yours truly at the Office Resources showroom and office in downtown Manchester. November hosting is up for grabs is your company is interested in hosting!" We just had our NHCIBOR 2nd quarterly meeting titled "Challenges in Development: Avoiding Overpromise in the public arena," consisting of a panel discussion lead by Ken Rhodes of CLD Consulting Engineers. The panel consisted of Jeff Johnston of Cathartes Investments, Dick Anagnost of Anagnost Investments, Arthur Sullivan of Brady Sullivan Properties and Steve Duprey of Foxfire Property Management (as shown left to right). This was one of the most powerful and informative meetings we have had and the extra laughs were great as well. The topic was a very realistic, feet on the street view of the good and bad in the development world here in New Hampshire. Another fabulous event was our annual NHCIBOR picnic hosted by one of our many great affiliates Robert & Anne Cruess of TFMoran. This is one of the year's best events between the great food and getting to catch up with many other members we have missed seeing during the year. Remember to sample a taste of this great organization, you can attend our two statewide marketing sessions held each month. For details go to our website and click on calendar of events: * 3rd Friday in Portsmouth * 4th Wednesday in Bedford Our 3rd quarterly meeting is scheduled to be held on September 26th and from the things I am hearing it will also be a great meeting, so make sure to block the time to attend. Lastly, we will be having a training session on October 24th on "selling businesses" presented by Don Marshall held at the Keller Williams conference room in Bedford. All of the details for these and others can be found at www.nhcibor.com under calendar of events. Thanks for taking the time to talk with me this month. And as always if you would like to see something appear in our message please reach out to me. Mark Dickey is the 2014 president of the New Hampshire Commercial and Investment Board of Realtors.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.

The 2024 CRE markets: “The Ups” (industrial) and “The Downs” (Boston class B/C office) - by Webster Collins

The industrial markets have never been stronger. What has happened is that the build out of Devens with new high-tech biotech manufacturing with housing to service these buildings serves as the connector required to really make the I-495 West market sizzle. Worcester has been the beneficiary
