600,000 s/f Northborough Crossing complete with new stores now open

The construction of Northborough Crossing, a 600,000 s/f open-air shopping center is now complete with many of the development's new stores opening for business this past Labor Day weekend. Northborough Crossing features anchors like the very first Wegmans in New England, BJ's Wholesale Club, Toys/Babies 'R' Us, Kohl's, Golf Town, PetSmart, T.J. Maxx and Dick's Sporting Goods. The addition of smaller lifestyle retailers at Northborough Crossing creates a diverse mix of shopping alternatives. Situated between Boston's MetroWest suburbs and the Worcester market, Northborough Crossing is located at the intersection of two of Massachusetts' major cross-state highways: Rte. 9 - the state's retail corridor - and Rte. 20. Northborough Crossing is 99% leased with most new retailers expected to open by the end of the year. Most of the development's new stores officially opened for business during the first week of September. Wegmans, a major family-owned regional supermarket chain plans to open on October 16. "There has been an impressive amount of growth in population, income and enterprise in this MetroWest region. Northborough Crossing responds to that growth by providing an exciting and much needed retail destination for this community," said Issie Shait, senior vice president, property management, New England Development. Developed by New England Development in partnership with Brendon Properties and The Wilder Companies, the new shopping center responds to a need for a retail center of this capacity in this growing region.
