2024 Ones to Watch - Rising Stars: Kevin Carpenter, South Shore Bank

Kevin Carpenter
Commercial Banking Relationship Manager
South Shore Bank

“Kevin has been involved in an impressive range of deals that enhance communities across the region. He lives out the mission of South Shore Bank by being out in the community and building meaningful relationships. His passions for real estate and learning are evidenced in his approach to the role.” - Stephen DiPrete, Chief Commercial Banking Officer at South Shore Bank.

In the last 12 months what accomplishment are you most proud of? Despite the current banking/real estate environment having its unknowns, I have continued to focus on the things that I can control while continuing to be successful. Deals are still being made and I’ve been fortunate enough to be a trusted advisor to my clients and colleagues. I have been involved in several noteworthy acquisitions, construction to permanent loans, condo projects, and even refinances, which will best position them and the bank for the future.

How do you balance your rising career with your personal life? While work/life balance is important, there comes a point when work co-mingles with life. I enjoy going to events, talking real estate, and being involved in the community because oftentimes people at these events become part of your personal life. It’s essential to turn off the work “switch” and I continue to do that by spending time with friends & family, playing basketball, golf, and volunteering at the organizations I’m passionate about.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
