2023 Women in CRE:
Sheryl Starr, Bernkopf

Sheryl Starr
Managing Partner
Bernkopf

What recent project, transaction, or accomplishment are you most proud of? I am particularly proud of representing a leading commercial real estate developer in Southeastern Massachusetts in an intricate multi-parcel assemblage and hotel development deal. My experience in acquisitions, sales, and financing enabled us to navigate through complex issues, achieving a favorable outcome for my client while maintaining focus on their larger financial objectives.

What are the most important factors women in your industry should consider when choosing a firm to build their career with? Choose a firm where you can be more than just the title on your business card. A firm that appreciates your expertise and prioritizes a supportive culture that fosters professional development and values long-term relationships.

Who inspires you most? What qualities do they possess that inspire you? My husband, Dr. Lawrence Starr, has always been my greatest inspiration. His commitment to his patients and the hundreds of thank-you notes he received from patients throughout his career speak volumes. His work ethic, empathy, and ability to make a difference in people’s lives inspire me daily.

Why should this nominee be recognized in our Women in Commercial Real Estate Spotlight? “Sheryl Starr’s vast experience in transactional real estate and her pragmatic approach to high-stakes negotiations make her an indispensable asset to her clients and the industry. Known for her savvy understanding and focus on critical issues, Sheryl’s unparalleled expertise warrants spotlighting in the Women in CRE issue.” - Jeannette Riendeau, Director of Marketing at Bernkopf.
