2021 Ones to Watch: Kelly Doherty, Project Manager, Callahan Construction Managers

Who or what inspires you? The teamwork that is required to deliver a building is what inspires me. We are working with hundreds and hundreds of people beyond ownership and the folks working diligently to physically construct the building – we also work daily with the accounting staff for every subcontractor, billing departments, insurance agents, safety departments, material vendors, etc. Delivering elite customer service to every person involved on a project is what keeps me motivated to do better and be better.

Who was/is your mentor and how did
s/he influence/help you in your career?
Justin Deveau and Andrew Pepe were the best mentors I ever had. I am eternally grateful to Justin for listening to me, believing in me, and having my back. And I am thankful for Andrew for being so patient with my endless streams of questions, for taking me under his wing and teaching me everything he knew while setting the bar higher and higher to push my growth. Their compassion and leadership set a precedence of the importance of training those around you. They made me the passionate mentor and manager I am today.

What led you to your current profession? I’ve always been a very tangible learner. Working in construction has facilitated a great working and learning environment for me – the questions and conflicts that arise are concrete which makes finding solutions ahead of time both challenging and rewarding.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
