Mirror Check Day - Preventing Backover Injuries
Tuesday, March 19
7:00 am - 10:30 am
In 2012 there were eight worker fatalities in Massachusetts due to vehicle backovers and three already in 2013, plus scores more people severely injured in accidents working on or near vehicles. All industries, facilities and employeesare exposed to backover hazards, and all employees should be trained in recognizing the hazards associated with motor vehicles, whether cars, trucks, forklifts or other equipment.
With that in mind, OSHA Region One is organizing a region-wide, all-industry "Mirror Check Day" on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in an effort to raise awareness about backover-type injuries. All ASM members are encouraged to participate. This "Mirror Check/ Backover Prevention" training will take place at your facility or job site, anytime between the hours of 7:00 - 10:30 a.m. on March 19. OSHA has put together all the materials you will need for an in-house trainer to provide a quality "Toolbox" or "Tailgate" type meeting for your workforce, at your own pace.
