2020 Women in Construction: Devin Cressman, Senior Project Coordinator at Cuhaci & Peterson Architects, Engineers and Planners

Who or what inspired you to join the construction industry? I would not be where I am right now, in the field and industry that I love, without the support I had from my mom. She was a very strong woman, and she never let anyone tell her that she couldn’t do something. She instilled that in me and encouraged me to follow my dreams. She taught me to be confident, be the last to speak because you learned the most by listening, and to always do what you think is right, even when it wasn’t popular.

What are you doing differently in 2020 that has had a positive impact on your career? I will be receiving my architectural degree in 2020 from Drexel University and will be moving towards getting my license for the state of Pennsylvania. It is a little of a surreal feeling. I started at Drexel the same year I started working for Cuhaci & Peterson Architects. My coworkers, family, and friends have been supporting me and motivating me the entire journey. Now, after seven years, I will have this major achievement under my belt and moving towards the next step for my license.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
