Mashpee, MA More than 300 people attended a special Veteran’s Day ceremony on Friday, November 11 at Southport’s Village Center clubhouse. The ceremony included a presentation of children’s clothing, toys, supplies and monetary donations to Don Cox of the Cape Cod Military Support Foundation that recently lost over 2,000 toys in a blaze. The toys were to be distributed at the annual Children’s Christmas Party for 800 kids that the foundation hosts each year at Joint Base Cape Cod which includes Otis Air National Guard.

The ceremony at Southport also included the presentation of a check for $8,000 given by Ron Bonvie of Bonvie Homes to Cyndy Jones, treasurer of Heroes in Transition. At the November 11 event, a service dog named “Southie” was presented to Southport resident and veteran Chuck Warry from donations that were raised by Bonvie and Southport residents at last year.
