Vantage Builders completes cannabis dispensary for Cal Verde Naturals

Belmont, MA Vantage Builders, Inc. has completed the build-out of Cal Verde Naturals’ first cannabis dispensary, located at 1010 Pleasant St.

Cal Verde offers a wide range of products at the dispensary, including flower, vaporizers, pre-rolls, concentrates, edibles, tinctures and topicals. The 4,100 s/f dispensary began serving its customers in April 2023.

“We are very pleased to serve the wonderful people of the town of Belmont and the surrounding communities,” said Kelly Tomasello, CEO of Cal Verde Naturals. “We are dedicated to providing each of our customers with a hands-on retail experience so that we can create a customized product solution for them. We appreciate the experience and effort of the Vantage Builders team in helping bring the vision of our new store to life.”

Vantage Builders teamed up with Caveney Architectural Collaborative on the project, which included significant sitework, full interior fit-out, and MEP systems work. The dispensary includes distinct entrance and exit vestibules, reception area, retail sales area, prep room for order fulfillment, secure vault storage, security room and a break area for Cal Verde’s staff. Due to the efforts of the project team, the high-end retail store gives no hint to its former role as a warehouse area, used primarily for storing and maintaining lawncare equipment and machinery.

The retail area is lit by both high-end fixtures and natural light from the store’s many windows. The space features a dark wood, coffered ceiling, custom millwork throughout, and areas of both hardwood and ceramic tile flooring.

The project team also included Bohler Engineering Group.

A long product display and point of sales area allows for multiple customers to receive assistance simultaneously, with room for both convenience and conversations with Cal Verde staff. An ADA-compliant section of the sales area ensures that all customers feel welcome. Product menus and information are displayed on several large, flat screen monitors.

The Vantage Builders team provided design-build services for the project’s significant MEP work. There was installation of new or modifications of existing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire alarm systems. Exterior work included stormwater management, drainage, fencing, and a new parking lot.

Vantage Builders has successfully completed a wide range of commercial construction projects,” said Ed Silva, principal of Vantage Builders. “Because of our expertise beyond retail, we were able to respond quickly and thoroughly to the remediation issues that presented themselves in this project. Our goal is to help our clients succeed in their business, and we are very pleased to have helped the Cal Verde team open their Belmont store.”
