Bedford, NH Leo Urban, president of Urban Associates, Inc. has reopened its New Hampshire branch office to again serve the New England region.

Urban Assoc. has provided site planning and landscape architectural services in New England to cities on streetscape, downtown redevelopment, and park planning projects, on school and college campus design projects and on private residential and commercial development projects from 1979 to 1996. During that time under Urban’s direction, the firm won many National Association of Home Builders design awards for his clients. These awards were published in Builder magazine, Better Homes and Gardens and in the New England Real Estate Journal. Urban was directly responsible for the redevelopment design of downtown Keene, N.H. that in recent years has been determined to be one of the top ten great public spaces in America by the American Planning Association.

Urban has over 45 years of experience in site planning and landscape architecture services and is a licensed landscape architect in New Hampshire (No. 138), Massachusetts (No. 637) and Florida (No. 1482).  He is a U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Building Design and Construction Specialty Accredited Professional. Urban Assoc. also has an office in Boynton Beach. Fla.

Under Urban’s direction, the firm has set its goal to be a leader in the design of low impact development (LID) design solutions with associated substantial construction cost saving to our clients. The firm recently completed the design and construction observation services for the first of its kind waste to energy facility located in the U.S. in West Palm Beach, Fla. Our low impact development design solutions included a green roof, permeable paver plaza with stormwater storage reservoir, green screen walls, the solar panel covered parking, bioswale to treat the first flush runoff, an eco-art fountain designed to purify the water using plants and not chemicals and rainwater harvesting system and cistern storage for irrigation. This project was completed by Urban Assoc. as a consultant to CDM Smith.
