Tofias PC expands its audit and tax group with the addition of new principals

Tofias PC has hired John Robichaud, CPA, CIC, CISA, and Mark Thurber, JD, LLM, MBA, as principals. "We're thrilled to have both Robichaud and Thurber as part of our team, as they will provide an expertise and depth of talent that will further expand the services that we provide to our clients," said Tracy Gallagher, managing director. Robichaud is a principal in the accounting and auditing group and is located in the Cambridge office. Prior to joining the firm he worked in the New England business advisory services practice at Grant Thornton LLP.   He has over 27 years of internal audit, risk and control, process improvement and information technology experience. He specializes in internal audit, information technology, risk and control assessment services, and third-party assurance reporting. Additionally, he has assisted several companies with their Sarbanes-Oxley readiness efforts, including design assessment, testing and deficiency remediation.  He has also resolved issues related to legacy and complex applications and decentralized operations. Robichaud has led numerous internal audits, assessments, and SAS 70s and agreed upon procedures focused in the areas of finance, operations, information technology, licensing and royalty compliance, and regulatory risk and control.   Thurber is a principal in the tax group and is located in the New Bedford, Mass. office. Before joining Tofias; he was a senior tax manager at KPMG and tax director at The Berkshire Group.   With over 19 years of experience, Thurber provides tax consulting, planning and compliance services for partnerships in the real estate, private equity and securities industries.  He is also an associate professor at Bentley College in the master of science in taxation and master in business administration graduate programs.
