Tishman to handle fast-track renovation to Copley Sq. Hotel

Tishman Construction Corp. of Massachusetts (TCCMA) is serving as construction manager for the $14 million, fast-track renovation of the Copley Sq. Hotel for its owner, CapStar Copley, LLC. The hotel, located in the Back Bay area, is undergoing a major upgrade of its 143 guestrooms and public spaces, including the addition of an elevator and modernization of its major engineering systems. Originally opened in 1891, The Copley Sq. became one of Boston's most famous hotels, serving as host to President William McKinley, Babe Ruth, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday, and Duke Ellington. The renovations will transform this property into a contemporary, 4-star hotel, positioning it within Boston's growing boutique hospitality portfolio. Interior features will include new lobby décor—with backlit panels, decorative silver light fixtures, candle niches, and metallic-sheen window treatments—and newly redesigned guestrooms. Additionally, the hotel's café will be re-launched as XHALE, a new casual dining restaurant. Work started in January and is slated for completion this summer. The architect for the renovation is Arrowstreet, Inc. and Intra-Spec, Inc is the interior designer. Locally, TCCMA is working on a number of other hospitality projects including the conversion of the historic Ames Building into a hotel, and the Colonnade Hotel renovation.
