Roslindale, MA The Cooperative Bank (TCB), a full-service community bank specializing in commercial real estate and business lending throughout Eastern Mass., has hired John Battaglia as senior vice president, mortgage operations. In this role, Battaglia will build upon TCB’s mortgage operations in order to better provide new and convenient offerings to borrowers.

As SVP of mortgage operations, Battaglia will be responsible for the management of all residential loan activities, developing mortgage loan policies, and providing financing for current and new residential customers. Battaglia brings over 35 years of mortgage banking experience to TCB and most notably founded Cambridge Mortgage Group, Inc. in 1996, which became a subsidiary of South Shore Bank in 2008.

“With the vast amount of experiences John has accumulated throughout his career, his knowledge will be an exceptional addition to our mortgage lending operation,” said Phil Bryan, president & CEO of TCB “I am excited to see the leadership and insight he will provide to TCB as we continue to expand this division.”

With the appointment of Battaglia, TCB’s residential lending group will move to Hingham, Mass., while expanding hiring practices as well as relocate existing employees to build an elite sales and operation staff. 

This location will serve as a hub for TCB’s residential mortgage business while supporting TCB’s branches in Roslindale, West Roxbury, and Charlestown.

Battaglia earned his B.S. in Economics and MBA from Boston College. He also serves as the Vice Chairman of Mortgage Markets Committee for the American Bankers Association, member of the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers Association’s Compliance Committee, and previously served as the chair of the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers Association. He currently resides in Hingham, Mass.
