Summit Metal Fabrication provides services for $44.5 million MBTA parking garage

Summit Metal Fabricators (SMF) played a key role in the construction of a new five story, 714 space parking garage at the 253 Bridge St. MBTA commuter rail station. The Summit team provided the design, fabrication and installation of all of the structural steel and miscellaneous metals for the 245,000 s/f parking garage. Total project cost is $44.5 million. The SMF contract was $1.5 million. The general contractor is Consigli Construction Co., Inc. SMF also fabricated and installed two partially exposed stair towers with sloped curtain walls, dual elevator shafts and a pedestrian bridge with dual cantilever roofs. The elevator shafts and the pedestrian bridge were prefabricated at the Summit Fabrication shop in New Hampshire, transported to the MBTA station with final assembly and installation on site. Working closely with Fennick McCredie Architecture, the engineer on the project, the Summit team completed the project safely, on-time and on budget.
