Studio G Architects breaks ground on 66,000 s/f
project at Franklin Cummings Tech

Boston, MA Studio G Architects celebrated the groundbreaking of a new campus for Franklin Cummings Tech, a private non-profit college offering affordable education for those seeking technical careers. This marks a significant milestone in the journey toward providing affordable, top-tier technical education within Roxbury’s Nubian Sq.

In collaboration with Studio ENEE, Studio G Architects’ design for the new campus will bring to fruition an educational facility that fosters innovation, collaboration, and sustainability. The design of the new campus has been purposefully crafted to support Franklin Cummings Tech’s mission of offering high-quality technical education. With a focus on technology-rich learning environments and flexible communal spaces, the three-story, 66,000 s/f building will accommodate the institute’s growth, fostering an atmosphere conducive to learning, collaboration, and innovation.

The new campus will feature a range of amenities, including shared classrooms, student lounges, technical labs, and outdoor gathering spaces. Notably, the rooftop learning lab will provide hands-on experience in mechanical systems and renewable energy technologies, offering students a unique opportunity to engage with sustainable practices firsthand in-situ. With sustainability at the forefront of the design process, the new campus will target LEED Gold certification, utilizing passive design strategies, energy-efficient mechanical systems, and renewable energy sources to minimize its environmental footprint.

Dellbrook One Way is the project’s joint venture general contract with a targeted completion date of late 2025. One Way is a minority business enterprise based in Roxbury. Organized labor will be part of the construction of the building.
