State Electrical provides services for 150 Second Street, Cambridge, MA

NECA Boston Chapter contractor State Electric Corp. is underway with core and shell electrical construction of Skanska USA Commercial Development's new Class A laboratory and office building located at 150 Second St. in Kendall Sq. The 3-story facility is designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects of Boston to meet the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Gold criteria. The facility will include 120,000 s/f of sustainable lab space. In addition to primary and emergency power installations, State Electric's project scope includes installation of the building's lighting, security systems including Access Control and CCTV, and fire alarm systems. Energy-efficient LED lighting will be installed in the main lobby and landscape lighting will accent exterior areas of the building. The facility will feature a rainwater harvesting system to enhance its sustainable footprint. State Electric is managing a field crew of six Local 103 electricians throughout project construction, which commenced in December 2011 and is targeted for completion in November. Skanska USA Building is providing construction management.
