Sotheby's Realty International hosts Open House and Art Showcase during Realtors National Open House Weekend

Local real estate firm Sotheby's International Realty recently hosted a special public open house event that showcased the work of local Cape Cod artists in 22 homes that the company has listed. The event was held on April 28th and 29th during the National Association of Realtors National Open House Weekend. Sotheby's International Realty Osterville agents Joan Witter, Ellen Valentgas and Melinda Chapin spearheaded the event, in which artists both displayed their works and developed new works onsite as members of the public visited the homes. A variety of artisans participated in the event include marine artists, fly fishermen, basket weavers, floral designers, photo designers, jewelers and painters. Artists included Elizabeth Mumford, Bob Marks, Miriam Nicastro and many more. "Not only have these open houses created heightened visibility for our listings, but our community will benefit by the increased awareness of these important local artists and the high quality of their work," said Witter. "Combining our open houses with our brand's association with culture and art has resulted in the perfect statement of who we are. We are excited to have provided the public with a wonderful opportunity to participate in this marriage of fine property and exceptional art." Open house locations included 75 Hornbeam Lane in Centerville, a landmark residence constructed in 1711 and surrounded by water views; 248 Main St. in South Dennis, a restored Cape built circa 1730; and 211 Sixth Ave. in West Hyannisport, a shingle-style home offering views of Nantucket Sound. Sotheby's International Realty held open houses at a total of 37 properties over the weekend, including the 22 that featured artists. Approximately 220 attendees are believed to have attended. Sotheby's International Realty was founded in 1976 as a real estate service for discerning clients of Sotheby's auction house and represents fine properties at a range of price points. Today, Sotheby's International Realty operates brokerage offices in metropolitan and resort markets, including Manhattan; the Hamptons; Greenwich, Conn.; Cape Cod; Palm Beach, Fla.; Los Angeles; Beverly Hills; Brentwood; Pasadena; Santa Barbara; San Francisco; Sonoma; Monterey Peninsula; and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
