SOEP-Durwest sprays foam at University of Vermont Davis Center
The SOEP-Durwest Co., was selected as the air barrier contractor for the new Dudley Davis Center at the University of Vermont. The 185,000 s/f building was designed by WTW Architects of Pittsburg, Penn. and supported by Truex, Cullins and Partners Architects of Burlington, Vt.
The building was built by William A. Berry and Son.
SOEP-Durwest's scope of work was to furnish and install a closed cell polyurethane spray foam to the back up wall in the brick cavity and metal panel areas. The closed cell spray foam used in conjunction with peel and stick transition membrane will act as the building's insulation, air and vapor barrier system.
There are many benefits of using spray polyurethane foam in this manner; the biggest benefit is the money that a general contractor will save with regard to the construction schedule.
The GC will be able to install 3 barriers in one application, which will speed things up and allow other trades to complete their work in a more efficient manner.
SOEP-Durwest completed their portion of the project over the summer and the Davis Center had their official grand opening in October.
