SIOR NE Chapter holds annual golf outing on May 21st at Brae Burn Country Club in Newton, Mass.

Newton, MA The SIOR New England Chapter held its annual golf outing on May 21^st, at Brae Burn Country Club. It was also a joint event with Arco Construction as a charitable event for The Community Foundation of MetroWest for Workforce Development Action Project. Approximately 40 SIORs and guests attended the golf outing and over 60 attended the evening reception. There was also a waiting list for this event. There were 10 groups of four for the golf outing. Jeremy Freid, chapter president welcomed everyone prior to the scramble kick off and thanked Arco Construction for being the gold sponsor for this event. 

It was a shot gun format that started at noon with boxed lunch and the opportunity to warm up at the driving range. The weather was hot, in the mid-80 degrees and very sunny. The groups were in foursomes with the chance to win prizes. The golf outing went from noon to 5pm. Then the evening reception followed, and included drinks and hors d’oeuvres. Freid thanked Bob Cleary for arranging the golf outing at Brae Burn. Also a big thank you to our new chapter administrator Christina Rouse of Sweeney Real Estate for organizing the event and manning the welcome table. 

 

 

Freid stated that the SIOR chapter is conducting six of these events per year with different sponsors. He thanked all the bronze, silver and gold sponsors. Other sponsors for the NE SIOR Chapter this year include gold sponsors: Arco, Dacon, Vantage Builders. Silver sponsors: CPM Currie, Eastern Bank, Foxfield, McLane Middleton, Northern Bank and RJ Kelly. Thank you to all of our sponsors. Freid also announced that on July 23^rd will be the SIOR/CCIM event in Boston at the Intercontinental Hotel. The chapter will also hold the annual Fall Golf Outing on October 9^th with the R.W. Holmes Scholarship Evening at the Dedham Country and Polo Grounds. Greg Klemmer,SIOR will be hosting for the chapter. Freid spoke about the SIOR designation value and that there were approximately 4,000 designees globally. The New England Chapter is one of the global chapters. He recapped the recent Spring Convention at Amalia Island, Florida and some of the AI programs that could be disrupters to commercial real estate but also could enhance our business. 

 

 

Freid then named the day’s golf winners. The first-place low gross winners were Mike Ferrucci, Sean McShane, Jason Caputo and Greg Klemmer with a score of 70. The low net winners were Chuck Reilly, Chris Reilly, TJ Mills and Chris DuFault with a score of 50. Closest to the pin was Parker Snyder on Hole 6 at 5’11”. The longest drive was on Hole 10 by Tim O’Brian. Each team member was awarded a gift card for the Brae Burn Pro Shop. 

As the evening reception progressed, Jason Grant, president of Arco spoke about the company and their involvement with the charity that the golf outing was supporting. The charity is The Community Foundation of Metro West. Arco’s offices are located in Framingham as a design building construction company. They have over $6.5 billion of projects in various commercial projects including life science, industrial, warehouse, manufacturing, cold-storage, etc. Being in Framingham, Grant said that it made sense to support The Foundation. The Community Foundation works to improve the quality of life through grants and education. In 2022, $500,000 has been invested in the community. The Foundation among other missions provides training, mentorship and guidance to needy MetroWest residents. The Foundation also creates a growing skilled, diverse workforce for businesses in the MetroWest region. Elizabeth Holmes of R.W. Holmes Realty, also spoke about the Foundation as its new co-chair. She stated that the cost of housing is so expensive in MetroWest. The goal for the Foundation is to give others financial capability to remain in the MetroWest with assistance on affording housing. 

Then Arco and the SIOR Chapter donated a $3,000 check to the Foundation. The event ended at 6pm with members socializing on the club’s terrace.
