Sidor of Cushman & Wakefield earns BOMA Boston Industry Award

Boston, MA Cushman & Wakefield’s New England managing principal, Carolyn Sidor, has been named BOMA Boston’s 2018 Industry Leader of the Year. Sidor was honored at BOMA’s Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) & Industry Awards event.

The industry leader award is given to individuals who have excelled in their profession, dedicated their careers to fostering growth and collaboration within their workplace and community and made significant and lasting contributions to the industry.

Sidor is the first female managing principal of Cushman & Wakefield in New England, where she oversees all lines of business in Boston, Hartford/New Haven, CT and Manchester, NH - a post she earned after a 30-year career that includes leadership positions locally, regionally and nationally with both commercial real estate service firms and industry organizations.

John Spurr Jr, A.W. Perry Inc. vice chairman, introduced Sidor and said,  “The real estate services industry has undergone major changes due to continuous mergers, acquisitions and consolidations over the last 30 years.  Carolyn’s ability to adapt to constant change, shape growth strategies, and galvanize people to work together to achieve common goals is what makes her a highly effective industry leader.”

Since assuming her current role in May 2017, Sidor has made tremendous strides for the company overall. Cushman & Wakefield’s New England offices have closed more than 700 transactions valued at almost $5 billion across all service lines.  She played an instrumental role in the recruitment of industry-leading talent to help bolster investor and occupier platform growth. During the last 18 months, a significant number of professionals joined the Boston office in brokerage, capital markets, project & development services, valuation & advisory, senior housing, financial analysis, lease administration, marketing & research.

“Professional success today – in real estate and every other industry – requires collaboration, flexibility, agility and recognition of different perspectives,” Sidor said. “Most importantly, the desire to get better – every day – must be part of one’s personal fabric.”

Sidor has seen the commercial real estate industry through a myriad of lenses in her career. From serving as the first woman to manage BOMA/Boston, to her leadership positions with five different national real estate service firms, to her current leadership role at Cushman & Wakefield - she has been a part of seismic changes in the industry.

Sidor was also recently named one of Real Estate Forum’s 2018 Women of Influence and a Bisnow Power Woman.  She is a member of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board, National Association of Industrial & Office Parks, and CREW Boston.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
