Worcester, MA Shawmut Design and Construction, a $1.6 billion national construction management firm, celebrated the ceremonial opening of its new Worcester office, an expansion of its commitment to the future of construction and development in Central Massachusetts. Joined by Worcester Mayor Joseph Petty, the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, and other community leaders, the Oct. 9 event highlighted the company’s long-term partnerships and deep ties to the community. Other notable attendees included Massachusetts Sens. Michael Moore and Robyn Kennedy; Worcester District 2 city councilor Candy Mero-Carlson; Tim Murray, president and CEO of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce; and Craig Blais, president of the Worcester Business Development Corporation.

Located at 20 Franklin St., the new office establishes a permanent presence in Worcester and serves as a hub for enhanced collaboration with key clients and partners, allowing for improved service delivery and responsiveness. This strategic expansion underscores the company’s nearly two-decade history in the region and deepens its commitment to Central Massachusetts. The office also provides a dedicated workspace for employee-owners, improving work-life balance and offering greater flexibility, which supports the firm’s efforts to attract and retain top local talent. This new location strengthens Shawmut’s vision for long-term growth, partnership, and community engagement in the region.

“We’re incredibly proud to expand our presence in Worcester with the opening of this new office. While this is a new physical space for Shawmut, it represents a deepened commitment to the Central Massachusetts community where we’ve been building for nearly two decades,” said Kevin Sullivan, executive vice president, New England region at Shawmut Design and Construction. “This office not only strengthens our ability to serve our clients more directly and efficiently, but it also allows us to bring our talented employee-owners closer to the partners and projects that shape this vibrant city. As we continue to grow, we look forward to forging stronger local partnerships, attracting top talent from the region, and delivering an unparalleled building experience for the community.”

Recent notable projects include UMass Chan Medical School’s $350 million new education and research building and Clark University’s Center for Media Arts, Computing, and Design.
