Shanley Auctioneers sells LaFamiglia Restaurant for $382,000 to Wang

Italian will change to Chinese with the sale of the former LaFamiglia Restaurant on Rte. 33. Auctioneer Joe Shanley of Shanley Auctioneers asked for an opening bid and Andy Wang, owner of Greenleaves Chinese Restaurant in York responded by offering 200,000. Five bidders were narrowed down to two as Wang and Peter Tupper, the owner of Seacoast Subs in Rochester engaged in a dollar for dollar bidding battle As the bidding crossed the $300,000 threshold, Tupper paused the auction to confer with his financial team and when it resumed, he aggressively bid past the $350,000.00 mark. Wang stayed consistent with his desire to be the high bidder, topping each of Tupper's bids past the $380,000 figure. Auctioneer Shanley gave Tupper one last chance to continue but his decline made Wang the new owner with a winning bid of $382,000. Shanley conducted the auction on behalf of Centrix Bank. The sale included the 1.5 acre lot as well as the restaurant building which was built in 1972. After signing the paperwork with bank attorney Dan Hoefle, Esq. of Hoefle Phoenix Gormley and Roberts PA, Wang expressed his desire to open another Greenleaves Chinese Restaurant on the site in the near future. Centrix Bank was represented at the auction by Debra Hallett, senior vice president and Steve Witt, senior vice president.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
