ServiceMaster by Gilmore's Running for Ro fundraiser exceeds their goal; raising $30,000 for Marathon survivor Sdoia's prostheses
ServiceMaster by Gilmore's Running for Ro Fundraiser took place on Saturday, April 5 from 7 p.m. to midnight at The Four Points by Sheraton. The company exceeded their goal by raising $30,000 for Boston Marathon survivor Roseann Sdoia's prostheses, which have to be replaced every five years.
Throughout the evening, guests bought raffle tickets, bid on silent auction items, and participated in a live auction hosted by Tony Massarotti, co-host of the Felger & Mazz Show on 98.5 The Sports Hub.
Dick Hoyt of Team Hoyt also made a celebrity appearance and attended as the inspirational keynote speaker. Hoyt is father to Rick Hoyt who was born as a non-verbal spastic quadriplegic with cerebral palsy. Together they have participated as a team in over 1,100 athletic events in the last 34 years.
"The evening would not have been as successful without Dick and Tony there," said Steven Gilmore, president/CEO of ServiceMaster by Gilmore. "Over 400 colleagues, friends and family members came out on a Saturday night to honor Ro. We were deeply touched."
ServiceMaster employees Sarah Friedman and Maria Benway ran and completed the Boston Marathon on April 21 in honor of Sdoia. Although the event was a success, Sdoia is continuing to accept donations. Visit http://www.gofundme.com/roseann to view Sdoia's fundraising page.
