S/L/A/M Construction Services promotes Bernier, Candee and Gothers

Glastonbury, CT S/L/A/M Construction Services (SLAM CS) has promoted Nate Bernier, LEED AP to chief estimator, Chris Candee to project manager and Ryan Gothers to assistant superintendent.

Bernier joined SLAM CS as a senior estimator in 2016. He is a senior associate of the firm. He has more than 19 years of experience as an estimator with a high success rate of working with designers and owners to value engineer projects within their respected budget. Nate works collaboratively to develop conceptual design budgets, evaluate constructability issues, prepare cash flow analysis, and leads value engineering exercises. His work on numerous pre-construction efforts on multiple projects, has resulted in cost reductions of 4-15%.

He holds a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Central Connecticut State University and an Associates of Science in Architectural Design from Three Rivers Community College. Bernier is a member of the American Society of Professional Estimators.

Nate has a leadership role in the expansion of the department and preconstruction offerings. This promotion solidifies him as a chief estimator, a role he has performed for the last 12 months.”

Candee joined SLAM CS as an assistant project manager in 2019. He has more than five years of experience in the industry that includes assisting and interacting with project managers, subcontractor procurement, estimating, and scheduling. Additionally, Candee holds an OSHA 30 Certification and has certifications in Connecticut Aerial and Hoisting, First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Roger Williams University.

Gothers joined SLAM CS as an intern in 2018 and returned to SLAM CS post-graduation as a project engineer. His experience includes the review of RFIs and submittals to ensure compliance with project plans, budgets, and specifications. He is proficient in analyzing problems, understanding associated issues, and developing effective solutions, including site development in both commercial and residential construction projects.

Gothers is OSHA 30 Certified and has also earned certifications in Connecticut Aerial and Hoisting, First Aid, CPR, AED Certification, and ICRA Certification. As a licensed superintendent, he will serve as an assistant superintendent in both Connecticut and Massachusetts. Gothers has established strong relationships with longstanding clients, Kent School and UMass Memorial Medical Center.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Roger Williams University.
