Westfield, MA Governor Charlie Baker has appointed Tighe & Bond’s Marc Richards, P.E., LSP to the Commonwealth’s Board of Registration of Hazardous Waste Site Cleanup Professionals. This 11-member board licenses and regulates Licensed Site Professionals (LSPs). Currently, Mass. has 530 licensed LSPs.
The LSP program – which includes scientists, engineers, and public health specialists with significant expertise in oil and hazardous materials - has been instrumental in expediting the assessment and cleanup of contaminated brownfield sites.
“Marc’s appointment offers him a unique opportunity to contribute to this program that is so immensely critical to environmental cleanup across the Commonwealth,” said David Pinsky, president and CEO of Tighe & Bond. “He is the perfect choice to help advance the LSP Board’s advocacy and continued success.”
Richards is a Tighe & Bond vice president and business line leader for the firm’s environmental practice throughout the Northeast in the areas of site assessment, remediation, solid waste, building science, wetland/resource permitting and regulatory compliance. An LSP since 2003, he has more than 23 years of experience managing projects related to brownfield development, building deconstruction/demolition, and construction management. His portfolio includes a wide variety of land development projects that have included working with stakeholders to advance improvements while protecting the environmental and its natural resources.
Richards earned his Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from Tufts University, and his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He is a licensed professional engineer in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. In addition, he is active in many professional organizations including the Licensed Site Professional Association, the Environmental Business Council and the National Association for Industrial and Office Parks.
