The Real Estate Finance Association hosts tour of J Malden Center and the new Malden City Hall

Boston, MA On Tuesday, August 17th REFA hosted an exclusive tour of J Malden Center and the new Malden City Hall for its mentorship program participants. Deborah Burke and Ron Hogan from the city of Malden shared a presentation about the development of the new City Hall and how it has revitalized the gateway to Malden Center. Sandi Silk, SVP, Jefferson Apartment Group, Jonathan Matthews, property manager, Jefferson Apartment Group, and Shawn Pike, regional manager, Jefferson Apartment Group, provided a tour of J Malden Center’s residential units and amenities. Following the tours, everyone gathered in an outdoor amenity space for a wine tasting featuring Malden Center Fine Wines.

REFA’s Emerging Leaders are hosting a fall panel & reception: New Approach to Risk on Tuesday, September 21st at Atlantic Wharf in downtown Boston. Lauren O’Neil, managing director & Boston office co-head, JLL will moderate the conversation with Nilesh Bubna, founding partner & CFO, Longpoint Realty Partners, Brian Kavoogian, managing partner, National Development, and Marilyn Mawn, executive director, JP Morgan. The panelists will discuss how the assessment of risk measurements, new and old, has caused investors to rethink their approach to acquire and manage their real estate investments.

REFA is hosting its next webinar on Tuesday, October 5th. The program, Multifamily – What’s Next, will be moderated by Travis D’Amato, managing director, investment sales, Walker & Dunlop. The panelists include: Jessica Buonopane, vice president, residential properties, National Development; Saeed Coates, president and portfolio manager, the GPG Companies; Sandi Silk, senior vice president, development partner, Jefferson Apartment Group and Joshua Solomon, president, DSF Group. The panel will cover topics such as where equity is choosing to invest, making sense of rising construction costs, the urban vs. suburban dynamic, and whether return to work will cause a pendulum back to the urban core.

REFA’s Annual Charitable Golf & Tennis Tournament was postponed from Monday, August 23rd to Monday, October 18th due to Hurricane Henri. The Tournament will be held at Dedham Country & Polo Club and benefits two of REFA’s charitable partners who aim to end homelessness in Greater Boston: FamilyAid Boston and Rosie’s Place. Registration is now open for the 33rd Annual REFA Gala, being held on Tuesday, October 26th at the Westin Copley Place. This year’s Gala will be honoring two companies, The Bulfinch Companies, Inc. and WinnCompanies, who have both gone above and beyond in the last year for our community and their employees throughout the pandemic. This event will be REFA’s first large scale in-person event since the 2019 REFA Gala in October 2019.

REFA is regularly monitoring updates from the city and state on the pandemic and will take necessary precautions to keep our guests safe. To adhere to the city’s new mask mandate, masks will be required for in-person events.
