On Thursday, October 6th, over 500 REFA members and friends gathered to honor Ayoub, chair at Nutter, as he was awarded the Swain Distinguished Service Award at the 34th Annual REFA Gala. Ayoub joins an accomplished group of honorees who have all made a great impact to the Greater Boston community through their work and philanthropic efforts. Previous honorees include: The honorable mayor Menino, Jon Davis, The Davis Companies, Bryan Koop, BPX, Joe Fallon, the Fallon Companies, Kirk Sykes, Accordia and Tammy Jones, Basis Financial Group and two company awards – The Bulfinch Companies and WinnCompanies. It was an evening to remember, as attendees celebrated in-person since the first time since 2019, networked and connected with industry members, and honored Ayoub as he accepted his award.

Back on September 21st, REFA members participated in an exclusive property tour of NEMA Boston, hosted by KKR. Attendees engaged in a cocktail networking reception in NEMA’s amenity space while small groups took turns touring the building. NEMA Boston is a best-in-class, 2019 vintage, LEED Silver, 414-unit high-rise multifamily property located in the seaport district of Boston.

REFA’s next education program will be in-person on Wednesday, October 19th during lunch at WilmerHale, 60 State St. REFA president Lauren O’Neil, AEW Capital Management, will moderate the program, titled “Inflation, Interest Rates, and Potential Recession – Their Impact on Commercial Real Estate.” Sarah Lagosh, Eastdil Secured, John Roach, US Bank, and Tom Taranto, Intercontinental Real Estate Corporation, will make up the panel. The speakers will discuss how they view the current environment for commercial real estate development, investment, and lending and its impact on transactions, investment theses, and portfolio allocations. They will share about the challenges and opportunities they see for the rest of 2022 and into 2023.

REFA is inviting its members to come together and celebrate another great year at its Holiday Happy Hour on the evening of Monday, November 21st at Bostonia Public House in downtown Boston. In the spirit of giving, REFA will be hosting a gift card drive benefiting FamilyAid Boston, an organization committed to helping end homelessness within the Boston area.
