Reardon and Borden of CB Richard Ellis N.E. Partners, LP negotiate $1.5 million, 22,309 s/f sale

On behalf of Boys & Girls Clubs of Middlesex County, CB Richard Ellis N.E. Partners, LP (CBRE/NE) completed the sale of 181 Washington St. The 22,309 s/f, special-purpose school/office building is situated less than four miles from downtown Boston. The CBRE/NE team of Mark Reardon, executive vice president/partner, and Jake Borden, senior associate, represented the seller, Boys & Girls Clubs of Middlesex County, and procured the buyer, Somerville Community Corp. The sale closed for $1.5 million. "We are pleased to have facilitated this sale on behalf of Boys & Girls Clubs of Middlesex County," said Reardon. "181 Washington St. is a unique building and has great potential for redevelopment to suit the needs of Somerville Community Corp." "Mark and his team operated with the utmost integrity and professionalism. We are most appreciative of the guidance they provided to the organization throughout the entire process," said Mechila Eng, executive director of the Boys & Girls Clubs. "The success of their efforts now enables the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middlesex County to use the proceeds to continue to strengthen its mission: to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens." Located a half mile from I-93 (exit 28), adjacent to the McGrath Highway and within walking distance to the MBTA station, 181 Washington St. provides visibility, accessibility and ample parking. In proximity to both Washington and Union Sqs., the three-story brick and concrete facility served as the former Pope Elementary School and then the Somerville Boys & Girls Club with improved office space, a recreational room and a gymnasium.
