What was your first job and how did you reach your current position? Comment n today’s market in your field and your future plans: I worked as an inside salesman, light fixtures for Sylvania Electric in West Virginia and Mass. Gravitated to the home office of the Sheraton Corporation, Boston. Stayed there for seven years as director of Project Evaluation. Moved to R.M. Bradley & Co., Boston, Appraisal Division. Stayed seven years as a staff appraiser and assistant vice president. Became designated as an MAI in 1972. Opened my own firm in March 1972. Appraisal methodology and requirements are becoming much more detailed. This is an improvement. However, due to the federal licensing requirement and the demand for appraisal assignments, the field is being inundated with new faces. I see some similarity with the demand for appraisers in the 1960s and 1972s when urban renewal projects were at every corner. Current appraisal needs will eventually fade.
