Professional Profile: Karraine Moody - 2017

What does your firm do? Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that creates and supports affordable homeownership through new construction, renovations and repairs. Our homes are sold to low to mid income families with 0% mortgage. Through our partnerships with corporations and civic groups, we build simple decent homes and host over 4,000 volunteers annually.

What was your first position/job in the A/E/C Industry? I spent some time with United Technologies Corporation working in program management and then human resources.  I realized then that the opportunities in engineering, construction, contract management are endless.

Why and/or how did you decide on the A/E/C Industry? I like to plan and build tangible objects.  Construction allows you to do all of this and it presents a challenge that makes it interesting every day.

What projects have you participated on? The MDC Clean Water Project (2008-2015), South Marshall Street Collaboration for Positive Change (2011-2017), Swift Village (2005-2008)
