Education: Boston Schools
“We came to the Boston area when I was 5” recalls one of the country’s most successful women Realtors, Florence Kates. “After high school I spent two years as a librarian, then met Stan Kates, an executive with Raytheon company and married him. In 1951, I opened my own firm in Sharon. In those days, a license to sell real estate was not required, I was so enthusiastic about our first house, the builder invited me to try selling.” Florence has been selling ever since.
A past president or MLS and her local council, Florence is also a director of the Boston Board. She claims her success is attributed to three things. Her husband; her employees; and public relations and advertising. She has already won every national and local Realtor award for this field,
In the past few years she has decided to diversely her operation and has recently formed a commercial/industrial department and this week opened her first branch office in Canton.
Her two sons are both in college and Florence and Stan enjoy travel as a hobby. Last year visiting Italy, Spain and Alaska. She is currently negotiating a sale in Hawaii.
