In 1950 Dom went into his father’s construction company as an estimator, tabulating building costs. A year later he was appointed Gen. Mgr. of Agostini and by 1953 he rose to the position of Vice President, upholding the original philosophy of the company’s founder, John D. Agostini: “Hire the people and adopt the construction methods that will deliver unusual value per dollar; provide extra services that the customer might not usually expect from a construction firm.” Known throughout New England, Dom last year watched the construction of office buildings, shopping centers, warehouses, factories, dormitories, schools, and churches, some of which were built from design to occupancy in an amazing 90 days. “We’re a bug on education,” Dom said, “and we demand a lot from our people – that’s the reason for so much education.” Realtors who lease and manage property; engineers, architects and designers; estimators, which adds up to a “total responsibility approach.” Dom finds the New England market “very competitive” and the future for the industry looks good. Both the company and Dom are 37 years old, and both believe in the spirit of a good challenge: “I wouldn’t walk to the corner grocery, but I’d walk ten miles on a golf course.”
