In 1940 he ventured into the retail and wholesale electrical appliance business. Later he managed the Sales Dept. of Chicago’s Polk Brothers hard goods trade, one of the world’s largest merchandizers. He came to Trudel Associates in 1963, and through his efforts in the Industrial Division, he was promoted to the position of Vice President. In the first 15 days of January, he and his five men grossed an astounding $650,000. But he has his problems to contend with too: “The lack of zoned land is choking us off. There’s a tremendous demand for properties in this area, but we have to demolish existing structures to make way for new ones. Industrially, this gives rise to industrial parks.” He sees the real estate industry of today as having “healthier signs than in the past 25 years.” In terms of new brokers in real estate, Alfred Barrett said: “Be prepared to learn and study the business before you expect to earn money in the commercial and industrial fields.”
