Norwalk, CT Welcoming courtyards and flowing fountains greeted Shelter Brightview Senior Living leadership, Norwalk Town officials, and guests to the ribbon cutting celebration at the Brightview on New Canaan Senior Living Center. The 70,000 s/f, 3-story building, is an all-inclusive senior living community located at 162 New Canaan Ave. Brightview Senior Living of Baltimore, MD, partnered with architecture and construction management firm PROCON of Manchester, N.H., to bring the community for older adults to life.

Among the opening speeches of appreciation was a particularly memorable one given by Raymond Spinola, who is married to one of the new residents. He shared the moving story of transitioning his wife from their home into the Brightview Canaan community. Spinola said that he loved the homey environment, and he has peace of mind that his wife will be well cared for by the Brightview staff.

A variety of floor plans and care options are available with the convenient onsite amenities. Included among those features are dining facilities, café, wellness/fitness center, activities room, beauty/barber salon and a library/media room. Victorian-inspired architectural elements are echoed throughout Brightview on New Canaan’s design. The exterior is completed by elegant patios, gazebos and water fountains for residents or guests to enjoy. Brightview Senior Living believes that easy access to services for everyday needs translates into freeing up more leisure time for fun and productive activities.

“One of the great things about Brightview communities is that they are not focused on institutional-like facilities,” said one of the PROCON designers who attended the event. “Instead, they concentrate on creating environments that provide a welcoming home-style atmosphere. Their thoughtful attention to design is reflected throughout the community, from the architecture to the comfortable interiors and decors. Seniors really feel as though they are at home.”

The 90-unit addition to the Brightview network of communities is packed with attractive features that cater to the needs of people who may need some assistance to get the most out of each day and people living with dementia, Wellspring Village. Brightview’s trained staff is carefully selected for their warmth, friendliness, and respect for the residents.

With older adult communities along the length of the East Coast, Brightview Senior Living is a front-runner in the fast-growing U.S. senior housing segment. Innovative medical science has allowed older adults to live longer than ever before, and increasingly more of them want to age in place./

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
