Pro Con and Cathartes install energy efficient windows

Two hundred and sixty three energy-efficient windows have been installed at the new Residence Inn by Marriott at Portwalk. When completed, Portwalk will include three buildings offering office, commercial and residential space. Cathartes Private Investments of Boston is the developer of Portwalk, Elkus Manfredi Architects was the master planner and DeStefano Architects was the consulting architect. Pro Con Inc. is the architect of record and the design builder for Portwalk's first phase; the hotel, retail and conference space. Cathartes and Pro Con are aiming to make Portwalk a LEED certified mixed-use development and the Residence Inn, New Hampshire's first LEED certified hotel. Pro Con recycled 95% of the waste material from the former 2-story, 86,000 s/f Parade Mall that was demolished to make way for the new center. In addition to installing energy efficient windows, Portwalk is using regional & recycled materials in construction and incorporating environmentally beneficial strategies such as using white roofing, deploying water efficient landscaping, and promoting alternate transportation. * The Residence Inn by Marriott hotel will be a 5-story, 96,000 s/f mixed use building. Pro Con Inc has scheduled a June completion date for the hotel and retail space. * Residence Inn by Marriott at Portwalk, Portsmouth, NH
