Brown Rudnick represents Yale University in its $109m acquisition of 137 acre Bayer Pharmaceutical complex
November 19, 2007 - Connecticut
Brown Rudnick, a premier international law firm, represented Yale University in its acquisition of a 137 acre campus from Bayer Pharmaceutical Corporation. The Bayer complex spans two Connecticut towns - West Haven and Orange - and comprises 17 buildings and 1.425 million s/f, including 550,000 s/f of laboratories. Yale anticipates the science labs will help attract top scientists and research programs to the university. Yale purchased the campus for $109 million. The transaction closed on September 25th.
The transaction posed a number of challenges involving real estate, environmental and government relations matters. In representing Yale, Brown Rudnick brought to bear its experience in these areas to handle, among other issues, environmental due diligence, permitting, leasing and tax. The Brown Rudnick legal team included Mark Asmar, Franca DeRosa, Phillip Small, James Wakim, Michael Camilleri, Michael Kozlik and Jeffrey Matrullo.
