Perkins Eastman opens Boston office; Pears and Silsby named to leadership

Perkins Eastman has opened a Boston office at 41 Farnsworth St.
"We have a growing practice in Boston and New England and the availability of two proven leaders allows us to finally implement our goal to have a permanent presence in the region," said chairman and CEO Bradford Perkins, FAIA.
The new office will be led by principal John Pears, RIBA and associate principal Jana Silsby, AIA. Both join Perkins Eastman from the Boston-based architecture firm of Steffian Bradley Architects (SBA).
Pears joins the firm with extensive leadership and international design experience. During his 20 years of service at SBA, Pears was instrumental in the strategic and profitable growth of the firm, and participated in their international expansion into both the Chinese and European markets. A member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the Boston Architectural Center (BAC), and the Society of College and University Planners (SCUP); Pears holds a Bachelors Degree in Architecture from the University of Cape Town (UCT), Cape Town, South Africa.
As a principal at SBA and the founding principal-in-charge of sustainable SBA, Silsby was responsible for the strategic growth of the firm and implementing an integrated approach to sustainability firm-wide. Silsby is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Boston Society of Architects (BSA), the Society of College and University Planners (SCUP), the USGBC Membership Forum and The Green Roundtable, and holds a Bachelors Degree in Architecture and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Environmental Design, both from Ball State University, Muncie, IN.
Prior to opening the Boston office, Perkins Eastman had worked on many projects for an array of clientele including: The Hunt Center at Beverly Hospital, Regis College, The Seaport School, Hebrew SeniorLife, and Kate Spade.
Currently, Perkins Eastman is working on the NewBridge on Charles project located in Dedham, Mass.—a new sustainably designed CCRC campus integrated into a 162-acre site bordered by the Charles River.
