2024 Women in Construction: Kimberly Alley, Ruberto, Israel & Weiner, P.C.
What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months?
My greatest recent professional achievement was successfully resolving a complex multi-party construction dispute as lead trial counsel. Initially, I was the only female attorney of over 20 lawyers in the case. The litigation required extensive coordination, analysis, and strategic planning on my part. It was critical to success that I effectively handle technical aspects of construction as well as key male players who were not always receptive to a woman trial attorney. Despite these challenges, I was able to overcome the obstacles and achieve a very favorable result for my client.
What is your favorite / most beneficial part of Women in Construction week?
My favorite part of Women in Construction week is learning about the many inspirational women in this industry. As a construction law trial attorney, I know firsthand the challenges and isolation women face in a male-dominated field. I am empowered by the individuals celebrated and the sheer number of women who have not only survived in this industry but thrived. This celebration brings an awareness with it that reminds us of our collective strength and ability to pave the way for other women. The awareness is enormously beneficial to the continued success and progress of women in construction.
What are your goals for the future? I believe in the power of building one another up and always striving to be better together. My goal is to see more empowerment of women in the industry. I look forward to continuing my role in making positive change for women through mentorship, support, and collaboration. A driving force behind my own career is using my strengths to empower others to find their voice, problem solve and effect change. It’s the reason I absolutely love being a trial attorney and working with clients to accomplish their goals.
