2024 Women in Construction: Rebecca Eriksen, Elkus Manfredi Architects
What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? My greatest professional achievement in the past 12 months has been overseeing the completion of the St. Regis Residences, Boston, which is located on the harbor in Boston’s Seaport District. I had been involved with the project for over ten years, from the earliest concept designs, through city entitlements and permitting, design documentation, and then managing the construction administration phase. The building design stands out among the other high-rises in Boston due to its very dynamic massing. I am immensely proud to have been a key team member on a project that I feel will have a lasting impression on the Boston skyline.
Who or what inspired you to join the AEC industry? I am from a family of artists and designers, so I knew that I wanted to choose a career that allowed me to be creative. I was drawn to architecture because it allows me to apply my imagination and creative thinking to build something that has a real impact on how people live. On all my projects, I prioritize and focus on who the end user will be. I feel a deep responsibility to create spaces that will not only improve but enhance people’s day-to-day lives.
