2024 Women in Construction: Elizabeth Newton, AmConCorp

Who or what inspired you to join the AEC industry? My high school engineering teacher, Mr. G, inspired me to join the AEC industry. After he saw my initial draw to the engineering world, he encouraged me to continue with his courses and eventually to attend Clarkson University to study civil engineering. Through these classes, I was able to gain hands-on experience in civil engineering and architecture, construction site field trips and hear presentations from working professionals. After attending college, I fell in love with the construction industry. Being able to estimate a project and then watch it be built is extremely rewarding.
