Arzoomanian named director of public property for Providence

Providence, RI Mayor Brett Smiley named John Arzoomanian as director of public property, who will oversee the facility operations of all city buildings and direct the city’s property management teams.

“I am excited to welcome John who will spearhead making our public buildings more welcoming to the many residents that use them,” said mayor Smiley. “John has extensive management experience, an expertise in planning and construction and a commitment to excellence that will help make Providence the best-run city.”

Arzoomanian brings 19 years of diverse property management experience to the role. Most recently, Arzoomanian worked at Brown University, overseeing all spaces within the South St. Landing building and properties at several locations in Providence ensuring seamless functionality across all locations. In this capacity, he was responsible for operating budgets and optimizing finance resources to sustain operational excellence. Arzoomanian also previously property managed Wrentham Village Premium Outlets where he oversaw specialty leasing, large teams and ensured lease compliance with hundreds of tenants.

“I’m honored to contribute to Providence’s vibrant future through public property management and grateful for the opportunity to continue building upon the strong foundation laid by the Smiley Administration,” said Arzoomanian. “I look forward to collaborating with residents to create public spaces that truly reflect the heart of Providence.”

In his role, he will continue the work the Smiley Administration has begun to invest resources in public property, public buildings and public space. As director, he will be charged with implementing the recently passed Capital Improvement Plan that includes more than $40 million in the first two years for improvements to public buildings along with an upgraded workorder system to better manage work requests and streamline services to city property. This is part of a larger effort to properly maintenance city assets and maintain city property.

Arzoomanian’s appointment is subject to the approval of the Providence City Council.
