Local 103 electrical workers donate toys and winter clothes to children, families across Boston
Boston, MA Union electrical workers with Local 103 IBEW donated thousands of new toys and articles of winter clothing to children and families across Greater Boston in December, spreading holiday cheer to those in need.
The Holiday Toy Drive is an annual tradition at IBEW Local 103 to give back to the communities where their members live and work.
“It’s really all about being of service and helping one another this time of year, spreading joy and seeing the smiles on the faces of the kids and families,” said Local 103 IBEW business manager and financial secretary Lou Antonellis. “This annual toy drive wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of our union members, local businesses, and organizations, and we’re extremely grateful to them all.”
This year marks the tenth consecutive year Local 103 IBEW donated toys and clothing, ensuring that local families can all celebrate the holiday season and removing some of the stress and financial burden of purchasing toys and gifts.
“These are the neighborhoods in which our members live and work. We are truly blessed, and we believe in giving back to our communities,” said Renee Dozier, business agent, Local 103 IBEW.
Local 103 IBEW also collected and contributed new hats, gloves, and scarves to support local families and women’s shelters this winter.
IBEW Local 103’s mission is to provide Greater Boston’s developers with the best trained, most efficient, safest electricians and telecommunications specialists, while fostering their union’s values of economic fairness, equal opportunity and charitable giving in the communities where they work, live, and raise their families. Their commitment to professional excellence is personified by the recently built addition to the Joint Apprenticeship Training facility. The Local 103 JATC is among the most advanced electrical apprenticeship programs in the country. Working for better wages, better benefits, and fair working conditions is just one part of their union’s focuses.
Local 103 members take pride in giving back their time and expertise to causes and charities serving those less fortunate.
