Viking Construction presents 2023 Construction Education Award to Quattrocchi
Bridgeport, CT Steven Quattrocchi of Norwalk has received the 2023 Viking Construction Education Award. This year, Viking Construction presented Quattrocchi with a full set of tools which he needs to participate in a four-year carpentry apprenticeship with the North Atlantic States Carpenter’s Training Fund. Through this classroom and hands-on training program, Quattrocchi will develop skills and field knowledge that qualify him to become a journeyman within the carpentry field.
After Quattrocchi completes his apprenticeship, he plans to continue his education to earn a construction management degree and work in property development.
Viking created this scholarship in 2012 to support the general community and, as much as possible, those pursing construction-related careers. To date, the company has committed $48,000 to students. Applicants need to complete an in-depth submission and essay along with an in-person interview to be considered for the award, and they must maintain a 2.7 grade point average minimum to continue to receive the award.
Quattrocchi completed a pre-apprenticeship program through the Construction Management and Carpentry Pathway at Westhill High School in Stamford. During high school, he played on the freshman, JV and varsity soccer teams, and was on the Norwalk Junior Soccer Association Travel Soccer Team. He also was a member of the St. Matthew’s Church Youth Group and completed many service projects within the community. He was a volunteer with the YES2 Program at the Stepping Stones Children’s Museum and worked as a coach and mentor at KidStrong, a child development learning center in Norwalk. Quattrocchi received the Stamford Chapter of UNICO’s scholarship and the Vincent Martino Memorial Scholarship.
